Summary

Just in time for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+, a refreshed edition of The Lightning Thief graphic novel

If you haven't yet submerged yourself in the graphic novel adaptation of Percy Jackson and the The Lightning Thief, treat yourself to this refreshed edition with an exciting new cover。

Four huge talents from the comic book industry contributed to this adaptation of the classic that has sold millions of copies worldwide, has been on the New York Times best-seller list for more than twelve years, and is the basis of an 8-episode series on Disney+。

Mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking out of the pages of twelve-year-old Percy Jackson's textbooks and into his life。 And worse, he's angered a few of them。 Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect。 Now, he and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus。

Series creator Rick Riordan joins forces with four of the biggest names in comic books to tell the story of a boy who must unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves。

I’ll give it 3。5 stars!! Definitely easier to get through than the actual book!

Incredibly disappointing, to say the least。 I was excited about checking out a graphic novel, but they delete so many important scenes。 All of the characters look very weird and at least 40 years old, definitely nowhere close to 12。 Can't wait to watch the show where they finally look their age! Pretty good, however the events move on too quickly。 It feels like everything is just cramped into the book。 However it did capture the basics of the story and stuck to the storyline well so 3/5。

Quería releer percy jackson por que se acerca el estreno de la serie, decidí leerla en novela grafica por temas de tiempo, estuvo bien para refrescar mi memoria aunque creo que se omiten muchos detalles o situaciones que en el libro me gustan bastante。

3。5⭐️ I confess that this reading was very nostalgic, but I wasn't expecting the graphic novel to have such a fast pace, it seems like the story was written in a hurry。 Although I don't remember many details of the book very well, after all it will be 10 years since I read PJO, there were some parts that I really liked in the book and were cut in the graphic, for example, the Medusa scene。 But it's a quick read for those who want something light and fun。 3。5⭐️ I confess that this reading was very nostalgic, but I wasn't expecting the graphic novel to have such a fast pace, it seems like the story was written in a hurry。 Although I don't remember many details of the book very well, after all it will be 10 years since I read PJO, there were some parts that I really liked in the book and were cut in the graphic, for example, the Medusa scene。 But it's a quick read for those who want something light and fun。 。。。more

Queria dar uma relembrada na história do livro antes de lançarem a série e, embora a HQ cumpra o seu papel, muitos elementos foram cortados e no fim ficou uma narrativa rasa e corrida。

I think this is a good book。 I like this book because it is a graphic novel。 I also like this book because it is a Percy Jackson book。 Overall I think this is an amazing book even though I think Ares looks weird。

The Lightning Thief Review tThe Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is a very well written graphic novel。 It reflects on Zeus’s missing Lightning bolt that was stolen。 The book describes 12- year old Percy Jackson, as a demiGod。 Percy Jackson is Poseidon’s son, Poseidon was believed to have stolen the lightning bolt, but how wrong were they。 This lightning bolt was so praised by Zeus that it was about to start a war amongst the two。 Percy Jakcson was sent to find the The Lightning Thief Review tThe Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is a very well written graphic novel。 It reflects on Zeus’s missing Lightning bolt that was stolen。 The book describes 12- year old Percy Jackson, as a demiGod。 Percy Jackson is Poseidon’s son, Poseidon was believed to have stolen the lightning bolt, but how wrong were they。 This lightning bolt was so praised by Zeus that it was about to start a war amongst the two。 Percy Jakcson was sent to find the bolt。 They travel a long way to try, and find the lightning bolt。 They enter Hollywood, and they enter the underworld, because they figured Hades was the one that actually stole the bolt。 When they talk to Hades he claims Poseidon stole the bolt。 Now they were all confused, because being that Poseidon, and Zeus were so close it wouldn’t make sense for him to take the bolt。 The reason Poseidon was believed to have stolen the lightning bolt was because the Gods were out to kill all DemiGods。 So it would’ve made sense for him to steal the bolt as leverage。 Hades then reveals the shield showing that Percy’s friend Luke was actually the one who stole the Bolt。 This caught Percy off guard, but also showed him the oracle was right about a friend betraying him。 Then Kronos’ human thief bent the God Ares to let Percy have the bolt in order to give the bolt to Kronos himself。 After getting the bolt Percy takes it back to Zeus, is able to return to his normal life, but plans on returning to the Half Blood camp the next summer。 The way this book was portrayed, and the information given, it really is a good entertaining book to read。 。。。more

I read all the available graphic novels for this series and the next and it’s so fun to see the characters on a page。 I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into the series again before the show, or before they read Chalice of the Gods

“Where’s the glory in repeating what others have done?”I first read this series in 7th grade, and I can still recall the feeling of pride I felt when I received a 100 on the test covering the first book。 There's so much nostalgia associated with reliving the story again。 I love how it came to life in this illustrated version。 “Where’s the glory in repeating what others have done?”I first read this series in 7th grade, and I can still recall the feeling of pride I felt when I received a 100 on the test covering the first book。 There's so much nostalgia associated with reliving the story again。 I love how it came to life in this illustrated version。 。。。more

I picked up this graphic novel hoping to relive the magic of the original book by Rick Riordan, but I was left feeling disappointed and cheated。 This graphic novel is like a bad summary of the book, leaving out many important details and scenes that made the book so enjoyable。 It's like someone took a pair of scissors and cut out random pages from the book, then glued them together and called it a graphic novel。For example, one of the most memorable scenes in the book is when Percy fights Medusa I picked up this graphic novel hoping to relive the magic of the original book by Rick Riordan, but I was left feeling disappointed and cheated。 This graphic novel is like a bad summary of the book, leaving out many important details and scenes that made the book so enjoyable。 It's like someone took a pair of scissors and cut out random pages from the book, then glued them together and called it a graphic novel。For example, one of the most memorable scenes in the book is when Percy fights Medusa, the snake-haired monster who can turn people into stone with her gaze。 This scene is completely missing from the graphic novel。 Instead, we get a brief mention of Medusa's head in a backpack, without any explanation of how Percy got it or what he did with it。 This is a huge letdown for fans of the book, who would have loved to see Percy's cleverness and bravery in action。Another problem with the graphic novel is that it doesn't capture the humor and personality of the characters。 The dialogues are bland and boring, lacking the wit and sarcasm that made the book so funny。 For example, in the book, when Percy meets his father Poseidon for the first time, he says:> "Dad。" I said aloud。 And then I felt really stupid, because I knew he couldn't hear me。>> "Oh, he can hear you," Chiron said。 "You can speak to him in your mind。">> Grover cleared his throat。 "I can do that too。">> "No, you can't," Chiron said。This exchange is hilarious, because it shows how awkward and clueless Percy is about his godly heritage, and how Grover tries to fit in but fails miserably。 In the graphic novel, however, this dialogue is reduced to:> "Dad," I said。>> "He can hear you," Chiron said。>> "I can do that too," Grover said。>> "No," Chiron said。This dialogue is dull and flat, losing all the charm and humor of the original。 It also makes Grover seem like an idiot, rather than a loyal and funny friend。The graphic novel does have some nice illustrations and colors, but they are not enough to make up for the poor adaptation and execution。 If you are a fan of Percy Jackson and want to catch up with the series, do yourself a favor and read the book instead。 This graphic novel is not worth your time or money。 。。。more

I read this in novel form several years ago and was not that impressed。 I have been reading Jonathan Stroud's marvellous series about Lockwood and Co。 and somebody on Goodreads mentioned that Mr Stroud was as funny as Rick Riordan。 That Mr Riordan was funny was something I did not recall。 I chanced on this graphic novel at the library so I took the chance and read it again。 Some parts are a bit funny。 Percy Jackson seems much more sympathetic this time around largely due to his humour。 Otherwise I read this in novel form several years ago and was not that impressed。 I have been reading Jonathan Stroud's marvellous series about Lockwood and Co。 and somebody on Goodreads mentioned that Mr Stroud was as funny as Rick Riordan。 That Mr Riordan was funny was something I did not recall。 I chanced on this graphic novel at the library so I took the chance and read it again。 Some parts are a bit funny。 Percy Jackson seems much more sympathetic this time around largely due to his humour。 Otherwise 。。。 it was OK。In a graphic novel most of the focus – my focus – is on the visual aspects。 The characters here were generally recognizable and a few pictures were dramatic but especially in the action sequences the characters seemed to be falling over, clumsy。 Most of the time though people are just standing around talking。 I also realize it is impossible to convey mythical/mystical events in comic book form。 This story is better in text。 。。。more
